Pastor's Message: My prayer for you this day is that whatever your situation, you might feel a spark of the divine joy in your heart this day, knowing that you are a beautiful creation and loved by God. I pray that you might be strengthened and enriched by the Holy Spirit in your life, so that you might do good work, offer grace to those in need, and love to all that you meet, so that the kingdom of God might be realized. I pray that both in times of deep and abiding suffering and in times of joy and comfort, you might feel in the depths of your being the bittersweet blessing that is existence in this world of joy and sorrow, forgetting neither the light nor the dark in the divine balance. May God bless you and keep you, this day, and forever more. Amen

Pastor Samuel Voth Schrag came to St Louis Mennonite Fellowship in August of 2007. He has a master's degree from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana and an undergraduate degree from Bethel College in Newton, Kansas, where he majored in Bible and Religion as well as History. Sam has previously served as a youth pastor at Faith Mennonite Church in Newton, and nursing home chaplain at Greencroft Retirement Community in Goshen, Indiana. Samuel married his wife Rachel in the summer of 2005. Both of them hail originally from Kansas. Samuel brings interest in historical theology, biblical languages, and congregational systems to his work at the fellowship, as well as public speaking experience and a wry sense of humor.

I am richly blessed to be a part of an active, passionate, Christ-centered congregation like Saint Louis Mennonite Fellowship. From volunteering at our Fair Trade Store, Plowsharing Crafts, to supporting the Saint Louis Mennonite Peace Center's community mediation program, all are invited to come and be a part of the work that God is doing in the City. I am richly blessed to be a part of a community that is so committed to working toward peace- be that advocating for the end of international conflicts that destroy so many lives and harm our own communities, to interpersonal violence sparked by poverty, racism, and poor teaching. All are invited to join us in the work of spreading God's peace to those close at hand and around the world. I am richly blessed to be a part of a family of faith, bonded together here in the city. As urban people, we know the transient nature of life. Many of us have moved from community to community, and we welcome new people knowing that our community is an ever changing reflection of the fabric of the city. We are committed to opening our hearts and our homes to those who join in God's work with us. If you have any questions about the Fellowship, or just need someone to talk to, I'd love to share more about what God is doing.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Samuel Voth Schrag
